What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Ranger position at Wickham Park?
Park Rangers are the first people a visitor meets. Good customer service skills are a must. You must be available to work evening, weekends, and holidays. The schedule is flexible. Shifts range from 5-10 hours per shift. Rangers average 24-40 hours per week and hours may vary by season. The park operates from the first weekend in April until early November and for an additional 10 days in December.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Meeting and greeting Park patrons at the Park’s Vehicle Entry Booth as well as at other locations throughout the grounds
- Sell and collect fees for vehicle entry into the Park as well as season’s passes
- Assisting Park patrons during their visit
- Answering their questions, directing them to the facilities in the Park, explaining Park rules and regulations. Answering patron inquiries is first priority
- Patrol the grounds, checking on picnic site rentals, and building checks
- As needed, assists the maintenance and operations divisions during Park events
- Provide traffic control and security checks to insure that Park visitors enjoy a safe leisure experience during their visit
- Writing skills are a must as incident reports and accident reports may be necessary
- Responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations established by the Park while using the utmost of discretion
- Securing all park buildings at the close of the park day.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
