Description
Job Summary: Prepares and cooks large quantities of food for the Residents of Wickshire Senior Living. Assists Dining Service Manager in preparing any and all food related meals or activities.
Essential Functions:
1. Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry.
2. Cook food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.
3. Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
4. Apportion and serve food to facility residents, employees, or patrons.
5. Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
6. Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures.
7. Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
8. Bake breads, rolls, and other pastries.
9. Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and Wickshires mission policies, procedures and standards.
10. Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.
11. Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of kitchen basics, food handling and cooking procedures.
Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements: There are no certifications, licenses, or other special requirements required for this position.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to connect and communicate effectively, in English, with diverse populations.
2. Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize, organize and manage multiple priorities.
4. Proficient in understanding and creating foods based off of recipes along with the ability to quickly master new cooking techniques.
5. Strong customer orientation to older adults.
