Under the general supervision of the School Principal, this position facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress / activities / outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students, creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
SALARY : Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers.
Hours : Full-time 10-month position (190 contract days).
Contract Unit : This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit.
FLSA : Exempt
Qualifications :
- Eligibility for the Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate with the proper endorsement. IMPORTANT NOTE for Out-of-State Applicants : Out-of-state applicants can request a Professional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) if they hold a valid out-of-state certificate. - Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using the English language when deemed necessary.
- Exemplary organizational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, parents, and administrators.
