12 months, (260 days)
FLSA: Exempt
Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit II (Administrative and Supervisory) bargaining unit
QUALIFICATIONS
Hold or be eligible for Maryland State Department of Education certificate as a School Psychologist.
Ability to communicate effectively using the English language when deemed necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct and interpret psychological assessments of students to parents, school staff, and students, as appropriate.
Assist in the development of educational activities and behavior management programs as they relate to individual student needs.
Meet with the IEP team to participate in eligibility determination, placement decisions, IEP development, and program reviews of students with disabilities.
Complete functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans for students with behavioral needs
Provide professional development for staff and families regarding disabilities, early intervention, behavior intervention and mental health supports
Provide counseling services to students.
Provide crisis intervention to school-based personnel, students and families.
Participate in school-based prevention and intervention programs.
Assist school officials in maintaining effective communication between students, parents, the community, and schools.
Serve as a resource and consultant to students, staff, and parents.
Serve on other committees, as needed, to support school and school system improvement efforts.
