As a Technician Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting our veterinarians and leading a team of veterinary technicians to ensure exceptional care for our patients. You will manage day-to-day operations, maintain high standards of care, and foster a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Veterinary Technician Duties:
- Perform essential veterinary technician tasks including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, drug calculations, fluid administration, and radiology.
- Obtain and process lab samples.
- Monitor and provide care for critical patients.
- Administer anesthesia and monitor anesthesia depth during procedures.
- Assist with medical notation, client communication, and examinations.
- Support veterinarians with medical procedures and treatments.
- Follow isolation protocols and ensure patient safety during hospitalization.
- Provide emergency care for patients, including laceration repairs and unblocking cats.
- Administer injections (IV, IM, SQ) and safely restrain both dogs and cats.
- Perform dental procedures and monitor patient vital signs.
- Urine collection via cystocentesis (K9 and feline).
- CPR certification for companion animals is a plus.
- Alert the veterinarian to any changes in patient conditions.
Leadership & Management Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with management to maintain a highly efficient, motivated hospital team dedicated to excellent care and client service.
- Support staffing needs, scheduling coordination, and labor management.
- Assist with onboarding and training new hires, conducting retraining, and ensuring the team stays updated on protocols.
- Develop and deliver training materials and quizzes to ensure staff proficiency in veterinary tasks and procedures.
- Develop and create standard operation procedure as necessary or needed.
- Communicate effectively with hospital associates, clients, and management.
- Oversee smooth case transitions and updates between shifts.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges or inefficiencies.
- Track equipment warranties, ensuring surgical tools are functioning properly and report issues to management as needed.
- Manage inventory, ensure supplies are stocked, and oversee ordering processes.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to ensure team growth and a productive atmosphere.
- Assist with managing client concerns and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain strong vendor relations and effective communication.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols and hold the team accountable for upholding the same standards.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current RVT license in good standing.
- In-depth knowledge of veterinary medicine, terminology, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with companion animal general practice and emergency procedures is required.

Hospital Hours:
- Monday - Friday: 7 am - 8 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 8 am - 8 pm
