The Marine Program Director is a strategic leadership role on the Wieland Designs team. The person filling this role leads a cross-functional group in developing customer relationships, products, and processes such that customers are well served, and the business segment grows.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads communication and sets program expectations throughout the cross-functional internal team consisting of engineering, operations, design, marketing and supply chain.
- Has input into the creative product direction of the marine furniture business segment.
- Optimizes the entire portfolio of marine business to achieve strategic organizational goals.
- Acts as the primary account manager for WD marine furniture customer relationships and any other marine interiors sales channels.
- Participates in gaining new marine revenue through relationship-based selling – understanding customers’ needs and helping the WD team organize to meet these needs reliably.
- Direct Supervision of Marine Coordinator and Service Technician.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Exceptional leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to influence multiple disciplines without a direct reporting relationship and navigate multiple levels within the organization.
- Structured program management processes and organizational capabilities – clarity of effective communication within the WD team to lead successful and profitable programs.
- Budgeting and financial analysis; costing and pricing.
- Ability to evaluate and assess potential and current program strengths and weaknesses; adjusting portfolio of programs as needed to achieve organizational objectives.
- Sales and business development – clarity of communication with customer interactions.
- Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets and ERP systems.
- Familiar with manufacturing processes and components of furniture construction.
- Ability to solve complex problems and perform critical problem analysis.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in project or program management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Physical Demand: Must be able to sit and work from desktop workstation. Duties require ability to communicate by telephone, electronically and in person. Subject to normal airborne particles and production noise level and load sales samples into vehicles and deliver as expected.
- Mental Demand: Must be able to read and speak English, communicate with customer representatives, and analyze and determine solutions to customer needs. Must understand production processes as they relate to customer schedules, and effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Driving and air travel required. At least six trips annually, expected. Must be able to move through a large manufacturing complex and lead meetings in a fast moving environment.
