Wieland is hiring a Manager of Environmental Engineering . The Manager of Environmental Engineering will be responsible for overall environmental compliance and sustainability for the Wieland Thin Strip Business unit in Waterbury, CT. This role will ensure ongoing compliance to local, state, and federal requirements while continuously improving the environmental management systems. This role is also responsible for coordinating decarbonization, energy reduction, and sustainability initiatives that are core Wieland strategic imperatives. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Manager of Environmental Engineering Responsibilities :
Develop and manage environmental projects from concept to completion. Must provide advice and assessment of future manufacturing projects to ensure Environmental compliance is maintained and improved.
- Plan and support all compliance testing activities required to maintain all compliance requirements. This includes all scheduling with compliance testing laboratories.
- Plan and support all maintenance, PM and Repair activities required for the equipment to maintain compliance.
- Conducts field investigations and prepares reports for problems, issues and resolutions relative to environmental / pollution control equipment. These include but are not limited to Title V, SARA, RCRA, NPDES, SIU, Pre-Treat, SPCC, and storm water systems.
- Establishes and enforces performance levels and expectations in environmental plans and confirms conformance to environmental plans and specifications.
- Supports and encourages employee involvement in continuous improvement activities including Safety Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, TPM and Maintenance Excellence activities.
- Must maintain knowledge level of government affairs as related to environmental regulations through outside sources.
- Prepare and submit Permit or regulatory required reports and permit modifications related to Title V, SARA, RCRA, NPDES, SIU, Pre-Treat, SPCC, and storm water systems.
- Develop and implement short term and long-range strategies for decarbonization and energy consumption reduction.
