Wieland is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant.
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Tax Director and Tax Manager in managing US GAAP tax provisions, federal and state tax compliance, and indirect tax responsibilities. This requires a hands-on supporting role to tax provisions, estimated tax payments and income tax preparation. The Senior Tax Accountant will collaborate with internal constituents to obtain the tax data needed to support various tax requirements in North America.
This role is located in Louisville, KY with capability to be remote.

Responsibilities
Senior Tax Accountant Responsibilities:
Tax Provision & Reporting
- Support the maintenance of an effective and efficient tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740.
- Assist in determining current and deferred tax expense calculations and deferred tax assets and liabilities.
- Reconcile income taxes payable and prepare the WNA effective tax rate report.
- Support and maintain tax basis balance sheets.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with operational and financial leaders to improve tax data collection and processing.
- Prepare, state, and local income tax returns and annual reports in collaboration with external tax consultants.
- Maintain an overall tax filing calendar and ensure timely, accurate filings.
- Support the preparation and payment of quarterly estimated tax calculations.
- Assist in the preparation of taxable income forecasts to determine appropriate estimated tax payments.
- Collaborate with tax team members and partners to support Qualified Research Expenses (QRE) and Research & Development (R&D) tax credit calculations.
- Prepare evidence and support for QRE’s and R&D credits
- Assist in the in-house tax calculation of LIFO.
- Support the selection and implementation of tax compliance software to assist in bringing tax filings in-house and streamline the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns.
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Accounting, preferably with a concentration in tax.
- Minimum 5 years overall experience, including experience in Public and Corporate tax, including CPA license. Big 4 or regional public accounting experience as Senior Tax Associate, and specifically in the tax reporting and compliance practice.
- Strong hands-on experience working tax provisions, compliance and research. Ability to work within the GL and tax systems of a company to extract data required for tax compliance and tax accounting purposes.
- Hands on, self-motivated, individual with the ability and desire to create new or improve existing processes, procedures and documentation.
