Job Description:
We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Design and Deployment Specialist. This role will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining various mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in our complex manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will manage capital and major maintenance projects, utilizing their expertise in mechanical engineering and maintenance concepts, practices, and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in the steel, copper, or aluminum industry. This position is based in East Alton, IL, and will require 100% onsite work.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with operations, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Maintenance to understand equipment performance, identify gaps, develop solutions, and implement changes.
- Prepare projects according to our standard processes to ensure project definition and team buy-in.
- Implement projects from concept to completion, controlling expenditures and meeting agreed-upon deliverables.
- Stay up-to-date with engineering and manufacturing technological developments to improve safety, quality, inventory reduction, on-time performance, and cost reductions.
- Assist in troubleshooting to identify root causes and resolve issues, maintaining productivity, product quality, and minimizing equipment downtime.
- Support continuous improvement activities, including Safety Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Maintenance Excellence.
- Provide technical advice on applying advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Lead by example, directing internal craftsmen and supervising outside contractors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5 years of experience in the steel, copper, or aluminum industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hydraulic and fluid systems troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with industrial machinery and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
