THIS POSITION WILL WORK ON-SITE AT OUR PARTNER'S OFFICE, AWC IN BATON ROUGE, LA.
BASIC PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Regional Sales Manager, the Sales Application Specialist (SAS) supports the overall business generation and development in the assigned product or service category by delivering application and product knowledge. This role travels with WIKA Field Sales, as well as alone, to targeted customers within the assigned geographic territory. The SAS may have direct account ownership of key customers and a growth & revenue target, in respect to the assigned product/services category.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
- Develops and increases sales for the assigned product/services category and related technology
- Defines and uncovers market needs and trends in cooperation with WIKA USA corporate
- Trains to continuously develop product, application and market knowledge in support of the assigned product/service category
- Coordinates strategies and manages activities with the sales team to meet sales goals
- Maintains open communication with WIKA Field Sales regarding account activities, plans, customer information and feedback
- Provides regular sales coverage to existing accounts, both jointly and alone
- Trains the WIKA sales organization on product and service offerings in regards to applications and technology
- Supports customer projects and development of applications for customer needs
- Maintains contact with all clients in the related market area and ensures a high level of customer satisfaction by providing technical expertise
- Sells and positions the product/services portfolio to WIKA customers to meet the annual business plan
- Develops, executes conversion, penetration and retention sales initiatives in conjunction with WIKA Field Sales
- Demonstrates technical selling skills and product knowledge
- Utilizes a defined sales process
- Completes required administrative tasks in a timely manner (i.e. CRM input, expenses, budgets, activity reports)
- Participates in national sales meetings as well as market segment specific meetings
- Cooperates and collaborates with other WIKA personnel, engineers, Account Managers, sales staff
- Facilitates design and cost analysis for engineered solutions
- Assists team members with final negotiations and kick-off meeting for strategic projects
- Participates in trade shows and conferences that meet needs of the business as directed by the RSM
- Creates product application guides and other marketing materials for the assigned product category, services and market segment(s)
- Provides feedback to sales and operations management on market trends, competition, market prices, and products, as business dictates
- Serves as a liaison between the US and global teams, within the same product category
- Operates within the defined budget cost center
- Performs ancillary duties as assigned or required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science/Engineer or similar qualification is preferred, but not required
- Previous experience with instrumentation or measurement technologies preferred
- 3 to 5 years technical experience in industrial and/or process sales/marketing/engineering required
- Demonstrates technical selling skills and product knowledge
- Ability to develop, plan and execute market strategies
- Highly organized and has very effective time management skills
- Ability to work cross functionally with other members of the sales and marketing organization
- Strong negotiating skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and CRM software
- 50% Travel
