Wilbarger General Hospital, Vernon, TX has an opening for a PRN Radiology Technologist.
The ideal candidate must hold a current ARRT RT and MRT (Texas license). BLS certification also required.
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director and the Radiology Director, participate in the activities involved in providing radiological services and support while following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: High School graduate or GED. Graduate of an ARRT accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
- Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current ARRT RT(R) & MRT (Texas License) required, or AART registry eligible and a current temporary MRT license.
- Current BLS certification.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require moderate standing, walking, twisting, reaching and handling of instruments and equipment. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavy lifting, including lifting and supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless. Must have the ability to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption and function under stressful situations.
- Have excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong listening skills and the ability to build rapport with patients.
- Able to work independently while closely coordinating with clinical staff.
- Demonstrate punctuality for shifts.
Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities - CT Technologist:
- Consistently produce quality CT images
- Have an understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions
- Send images to Radiologist for interpretation/reading.
- Maintain accurate daily log, with CTDI dosage.
- Maintaining accurate record of IV contrast adverse reactions.
- Assist with the cross-training of other technologists.
- Ability to start IVs and operate the injector according to CT procedures.
- Ability to prepare and administer oral contrast to patients.
- Have good judgment skills for patient safety issues such as IV contrast reaction and IV infiltrate.
- Understand lab values pertaining to IV contrast CT procedures.
- Responsible for educating and preparing patients for their examinations.
