Responsible for working within the Engineering department to successfully help design, develop, and launch successful new products/processes as well as improve existing tooling processes by providing required tools, fixtures, and secondary processes.
Role and Responsibilities
- Fabricate various trim and check fixtures and any secondary functions need in the process of launching new products.
- Perform various trim and check fixture modifications as required to improve the processes.
- Review newly constructed tools, jigs and fixtures for conformance and completeness to intended design and label for ease of identification by production employees.
- Modify tools, jigs and fixtures as required for engineering changes directed by Wilbert and/or the customer.
- Set up and operate safely all required tools including hand, machine shop, and wood working equipment.
- Interpret drawings and evaluate machining methods on intricate machining setups.
- Layout work and trim product prototypes as required.

- Participate on cross-functional teams during product launch.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Safely use forklifts and other equipment needed for job task.
- Observe all safety requirements including Lock Out Tag Out and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Comply with all company policies, including safety and OSHA compliance and work guidelines.
- Assist Tooling Repair (production) with more complex troubleshooting and repairs (as needed).
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- 2-year degree or equivalent experience in tool and die repair or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years’ tooling repair experience.
- Ability to use shop math, precision measuring instruments and read blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of electricity or plumbing.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid forklift license to hold position.
- All required WilbertU Courses based on job title.
- Previous experience with plastics, preferable thermoforming is desired.
- Ability to troubleshoot tools and secondary fixtures.
- Proficient in performing welding on many different materials.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to other employees and other departments.
- Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.
