Summary:
The Extrusion Line Operator (ELO) supports the business by managing the production process on a continual moving extrusion line. That process includes reading work orders & prints and producing orders/parts to specifications. It also includes keeping material hoppers full, checking parts for quality on a scheduled basis & recording results, keeping accurate production counts, neatly/properly packing & palletizing completed boxes, keeping their line clean and organized, and informing the shift supervisor of any issues on the line on a timely basis.
We operate 3 shifts, 5 days per week:
- 1st Shift: 8 AM - 4 PM
- 2nd Shift: 4 PM - 12 AM
- 3rd Shift: 12 AM - 8 AM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- The ELO is responsible for arriving at work on time and ensuring they resume production responsibilities at their line on time after breaks.
- The Extrusion Line Operator (ELO) must be able to read, understand & follow written production work orders and the production schedule.
- The ELO must be able to read and understand dimensioned part prints and confirm production parts meet specifications.
- The ELO must be proficient in using a tape measure and calipers to measure dimensions per the print specs and record those dimensions on a part quality form.
- The ELO is responsible for properly mixing color with raw material and keeping the material hopper adequately filled at all times.
- The ELO is responsible for confirming part color matches the established standard throughout production.
- The ELO is responsible for maintaining proper production counts at all times and ensuring material is not over-mixed.
- The ELO is responsible for confirming they have the proper pack items (screw packs, tape, boxes, pallets, etc.) at the line at all times during their shift so there are no interruptions in production.
- The ELO is responsible for ensuring that the pack quantities are correct and that the proper labeling is affixed to the carton.

- The ELO is responsible for notifying the shift supervisor immediately if they encounter any issues on the production line.
- The ELO must be able to keep pace with the extrusion line.
- The ELO is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized production line.
- The ELO is required to safely lift heavy packages that may require team lifting.
- The ELO must be able to work weekends if the need arises.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
What You Need to Succeed:
- A positive attitude.
- One or more years of experience in a production environment.
- Good basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division).
- Ability to work safely, independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to perform tasks under pressure and within a deadline-driven timeline.
- Ability to handle detail-oriented work to ensure proper items and quantities are produced, packed and ready to be shipped to arrive at customer locations in good condition.
- General fluency in English required (verbal and written).
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or scheduled form.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as a primary job responsibility in a production environment that is minimally climate controlled.
- Capacity to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds intermittently during a typical work shift.
- Observance of established safety guidelines in conducting physical duties.
- Wear protective equipment as required.
