What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Mechanical Inspector position at Wilcox Industries?
The Quality Control (QC) Mechanical Lead is responsible for helping the QC team support and perform themselves the inspection and testing of products manufactured or purchased by Wilcox for the end user.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Guide and Support QC Mech team to achieve daily tasks.
- Prioritize tasks based on company and production needs as directed.
- Focus highly on continuous improvement, group training and covering daily gaps.
- Perform mechanical, functional, and visual inspection.
- Read complex blueprints and follow directions.
- Understand and apply Geometry Tolerance (GTD)
- Have a working knowledge of CMM measuring instruments.
- Perform inspections and record data.
- Support statistical process control.
- Handle nonconforming products.
- Collection and retention of Quality Records.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs.
- Supports calibration.
- Communicate with internal parties on matters relating to the Quality System and ISO 9000 certification.
- Perform other duties as necessary when directed to do so to support business needs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus 5 plus years’ experience in a high paced manufacturing quality role or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, engineering drawings and GTD with minor support.
- Proficient use of inspection gauges and tools.
- Working knowledge of CMM operation and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in data collection, analysis and presentation.
- Computer skills: MS Word, Excel.
- Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot.
- Ability to prioritize, communicate and escalate when appropriate.
- Proven ability to multi-task.
- Experience with ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems and audits
- Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Wilcox is a U.S. government defense contractor, and this position requires access to export-controlled technology. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access U.S. government-controlled technology prior to beginning work.
- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
- Visual acuity to read instructions and inspect parts.
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive action with fingers, hands and wrists.
- Must be able to lift up to 20lbs.
