What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zookeepers position at Wild Animal Safari, Inc.?
The Wild Animal Safari Zookeepers staff focuses on the care and feeding of our Drive-Thru and Walkabout Adventure Zoo animals, as well as herd management and practical care of range animals and animals who live in their own enclosed exhibits. Will be required to work directly with wild animals in the open range and/or with the wild animals who are housed in their own enclosed exhibits. Zookeepers are typically not assigned to a single species but are tasked based on experience, comfort level, and expertise.

- At least 18 years of age or older
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Pass a pre-employment drug test after an offer of employment is made
- Hold a valid Driver's License
- Full-time applicants must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and/or holidays, 32-40 hours a week
- Part-time applicants must be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week and be available on weekends.
- Prior experience working with exotic or domestic hoof stock animals preferred
- Thorough knowledge of animal behavior and husbandry preferred
- Completion of at least 2 collegiate years in a degree plan of animal directed studies (e.g., Zoology, Biology, Animal Science, etc.) is preferred but not required (substitute with experience)
- Experience working with a wide variety of animals such as exotic hoofstock, carnivores, birds, reptiles, etc., is preferred. Willing to train entry-level zookeepers.
- Ability to work as a team

- Entry-level admissions/food/retail employee base rate is $9.00
- The entry-level zookeeper base pay rate is $12.00
- Entry Level education staff/bus driver's base pay rate is $10.00 and up depending on experience.
- Entry-level maintenance positions base pay rate is $11.00-$13.00 and up depending on experience and part-time/full-time status.
