What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at Wilderness Resort?
SUMMARY: Ensure superior customer service by serving patrons food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. A Bartender is also responsible for keeping the bar area clean and stocked.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Takes beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests.
Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to patrons of the bar while following standard recipes.
Checks patrons’ identification to ensure state age requirements are followed for purchases on alcohol.
Collects payments for food and beverage items served.
Arranges bottles and glasses to ensure bar display is attractive.
Re-stocks garnish stations by slicing and pitting fruit for garnish, as needed.
Take food and snack orders from guests seated in the bar area.
Balance cash receipts.
Limits problems and liability issues relative to customers’ excessive drinking by discontinuing to serve alcoholic drinks, when required, persuading customers to stop drinking and/or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated guests, if needed.
Cleans glasses, utensils, the bar and bar equipment, work areas and tables.
Follow through with all side jobs before the end of the shift.
Frequently check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their food and beverage purchases and take action to correct any issues.
Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning as needed
Answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
Inform patrons of daily drink specials & food specials
Follow all food handling safety protocols which includes frequent hand washings
All other duties assigned by manager
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: (Level 2) Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: (Level 1) Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: (Level 1) Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: (Level 1) Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Yearly Responsible Serving Class
