Ranch Hand

Wildersis actively seeking an experienced Ranch Hand.

This is an hourly, full-time, onsite position in Turkey, NC. Your regular weekly schedule will be Monday through Friday, along with rotating weekends (two a month) with the rest of the Wilders farm team. The team will work to coordinate schedules in advance to ensure a good work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities

• Pasture construction and renovation. (Pouring cement, installing feed bunks, installing water systems, installing fence systems)
• Assist with routine grounds maintenance including grass cutting and weed eating
• Check and maintain fence lines and farm equipment regularly
• Routine feeding of grain, forages, and supplements for cattle and pigs.
• Utilize TMR mixer to feed the whole herd in the fall, winter, and spring, along with selling animals year-round.
• Keep the feed area clean and tidy
• Maintain rotational grazing, pasture clipping, spraying, fertilizing, and dragging
• Bail, haul, wrap, and move hay under shelter
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the farm by moving bedding, hauling manure, high-pressure washing, and mowing

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of farm-related experience, preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years, preferred
• Basic equipment operating skills including but not limited to tractors, skid loaders, trucks with trailers, and ATVs
• Basic cattle knowledge
• Hard worker with a “Will to Win” attitude of wanting to better yourself personally and professionally

Physical Demands

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Ranch Hand to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

• Constant physical effort must be able to stand for extended periods and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required
• Ability to lift and carry, frequently, at least 50 pounds and, at times, as much as 90 pounds, as may be assigned
• Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions
• Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the farm, including the activities of other employees, the operation of equipment, and the movement of all livestock
• Must be able to climb on and off farm equipment safely
• Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
