Wildland Cooperative is seeking multiple candidates to join us in growing on our Green Bluff farm and serving beer, wine and other local goods in our market space.

About Wildland Cooperative:

Wildland is a worker-owned cooperative located on Green Bluff with a mission of cultivating our connection to the land through four main pillars of our business:

  • Organic, ecological farming
  • Operating a winery and brewery serving beverages crafted from local ingredients
  • Retail market space for creative goods and farm-fresh produce
  • Land conservation and rewilding projects

​​A cooperative is a business structure that seeks to make decision making and ownership more democratic. Each member owner of the cooperative is entitled to one share of the business and has one vote in matters of decision making. Additionally, if the business is profitable, member owners share these profits equally based on the number of hours they have worked. We believe that shared ownership and shared decision making allow organizations to thrive.

New team members must work 500 hours before they are eligible for membership in the cooperative. Once they work those 500 hours during a full season, the cooperative then decides to offer membership where the team member can then choose to join the organization as a member owner.

As Wildland Cooperative is a multi-faceted business with group ownership, we encourage team members to learn about the different aspects of the operation in order to better serve our customers and be stewards of the overall vision.

Taproom Server Position:

Wildland is looking for two enthusiastic and experienced taproom servers to join our team! They would be working directly with the bar manager and alongside the food service manager. These positions will include bar service as well as float to food preparation and service.

About the Wildland Taproom & Market Space:

Our taproom & market space is located atop the beautiful Green Bluff agricultural area in Colbert, WA. The philosophy of our retail and bar services revolves around connection, inclusion, and an appreciation for local goods, beverages, and food. Team members are enthusiastic to build relationships around enriching products and experiences as we strengthen our local community.

With views of Mount Spokane and the Wildland Farm, our taproom features 20 taps of beer, wine, and non alcoholic beverages made right here. The market space within the taproom includes produce from our farm, art pieces from Spokane creators, and grocery products which we plan to continue expanding. We are passionate about serving local and whole products that enhance life and infuse that value into all aspects of our business.

Position Summary:

The primary focus of these positions will involve working shifts in our tap house and market space serving locally crafted beverages and food. The taproom servers must have a passion for customer service and an eagerness to share knowledge of menu options and offerings with guests. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn about all aspects of Wildland as a business and share this with people who enter the taproom/market. Taproom servers are expected to help facilitate positive and memorable experiences for guests at Wildland while also ensuring efficient bar service.

Date and Time Commitment:

  • The preferred start date for taproom positions is April 25th - must commit to one full season (May-December) with opportunity to return the following year and be offered worker ownership as is consistent with our Bylaws.
  • All team members are expected to work weekends (Thursday-Sunday) and some holidays during the busy season from May through December.
  • Both positions are part time
  • Training period (first two weeks): 10-15 hours/week
  • Standard schedule: 3-4 days a week (15-25 hours/week). Typical shifts range from 5-7 hours per day depending on flow of the taproom. During peak seasons longer shifts of 8-9 hours may be expected.
  • As required by law, employees get a paid 10 minute rest break in the middle of their shift for every four hours worked. Shifts lasting 5 hours or more include a 30 minute uninterrupted meal break (unpaid).

Responsibilities:

Bar service:

  • Ability to create a welcoming and friendly environment to all who enter the taproom
  • Serving beer, wine, and other beverages to customers in our tap house as well as selling local retail goods and food products in our market space
  • Preparing and serving a limited menu of food options
  • Collaborate with other servers to ensure efficient service
  • Openness to learning about all offerings that make up Wildland - including produce, information about our farm, local goods, and the cooperative structure.

General duties:

  • Assist in managing inventory and restocking supplies
  • Handle cash transactions and point of sale accurately
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and organization
  • Uphold health and safety regulations in accordance with local laws regarding alcohol and food service

Desired Qualifications:

  • Clear and direct communication and cohesion within the crew is highly prioritized
  • Experience working in beverage/service industry
  • Passion for sharing knowledge around beer/wine as well as an interest in learning about the other facets of Wildland to share with guests
  • Ability to lift 50lbs (such as carrying wine cases and moving kegs)
  • Excellent people skills for interacting with both customers and your coworkers
  • Applicant must be 21 years of age or older
  • See yourself working within a Worker Owned Cooperative and take on the responsibilities that follow
