The Aquatheater Captain oversees guest seating and cleaning operations for our popular sea lion programs. As a key member of the Buildings & Grounds team, focused on maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, the Aquatheater Captain serves as the main point of contact for guest management in the stadium seating areas. This seasonal position requires a friendly, energetic individual who excels in crowd management, remains calm and patient under pressure, and is skilled at assisting guests while upholding NYA standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead guest seating operations at the Aquatheater, providing guidance and oversight to Seasonal Attendants on usher team tasks and procedures.
- Ensure a friendly, safe, and efficient experience for all Aquatheater guests during arrival and departure, addressing minor conflicts in the moment and escalating to management as needed.
- Collaborate with key members of the Animal, Education, Security, and Visitor Services teams to learn and implement best practices for managing guest seating and enhancing the audience experience.
- Create a memorable and positive experience for visitors by maintaining a strong knowledge of exhibits and amenities, while consistently demonstrating professional customer service.
- Contribute to B&G tasks, including cleaning and litter removal (e.g., windows, garbage areas, and restrooms), crowd control, and event setup and breakdown.
- Manage VIP and special request seating in reserved areas and provide assistance to guests with disabilities.
Qualification Requirements
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with park guests
- Friendly, positive attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Prior leadership experience is a plus
- Reliable, dependable, and able to collaborate well in a team environment
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions
- Ability to navigate 3-4 flights of stairs multiple times a day
- Capable of moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Availability to work weekends and all holidays
