Job Summary
Provides critical and administrative support to the SVP of Communications by assisting with all aspects of the communications team’s work to message the organization’s priorities and stories across earned, shared, and owned communications channels.

Major Responsibilities
- Provides critical and administrative support to the SVP of Communications by assisting with all aspects of the communications team’s work to message the organization’s priorities and stories across earned, shared, and owned communications channels
- Manage complex team administrative work requiring the use of independent judgment and initiative
- Manage the schedule and calendar of the SVP of Communications
- Manage news media lists
- Produce communications metric reports
- Edit and copyedit all materials as needed
- Help staff news media visits to the five parks in NYC including Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and New York Aquarium
- Perform special assignments and prepare reports at the direction of the SVP of Communications
- Performs other related work as assigned
- Help staff news media events in person and remotely
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Must be able to easily work on site at any of our zoos and aquarium in NYC
- Professionalism and discretion are a must in the handling of confidential information.
- Technical proficiency and problem-solving skills related to IT support and troubleshooting, and cloud-based environments (web-based applications) are a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree required/with an emphasis on a degree in communications and or journalism
- A minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience is required
- Friendly, courteous, and professional disposition in person and over the phone
- Strong client service orientation
- Interest in international conservation and zoos and aquariums a plus
- Interest and some experience in communications
- Solid MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to design graphics for written materials a plus
- Must be able to easily work on site at any of our zoos and aquarium in NYC
- Professionalism and discretion are a must in the handling of confidential information.

- The physical demands include but are not limited to use of a Keyboard, 10-key, Mouse, and Telephone Use, Handwriting, Sitting, Standing, Crouching, Kneeling, Bending, Walking, Stair Climbing, minimal Driving, and Lifting up to 50lbs.
- The workplace conditions and environment of the role include working indoors, closely with others, and/or alone, exposure to excess noise, operate power tools and equipment and use sharp tools and equipment.
