Position Title: Seasonal Supervisor of Horticulture City Zoos
Reports To: Manager of Horticulture City Zoos
Directly Supervises: Seasonal Employees
Pay Rate: $28.00/hr
Position Objective:
To ensure the esthetic, health, and long-term care of the living plant collection of the city zoos, using proper horticulture practices to enhance the animal exhibits
Responsibilities:
1. Under the direction of the Manager of Horticulture and the Assistant Manager of horticulture, supervise all grounds keeping and landscaping tasks necessary to maintenance of the zoo grounds and animal exhibits to the standards of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
2. Use and properly maintain all tools and power equipment.
3. Receive deliveries as set up by the Manager.
4. Train staff in the proper horticulture practices.
5. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
6. Must be comfortable using equipment and machinery like tractors, chainsaws, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, weed whackers and hedge trimmers.
