Under general supervision, patrols the Zoological Park to maintain and safeguard life and property against fire, vandalism and theft.
This position is scheduled to work on the overnight shift 11pm-7am

Position Objective
Under general supervision, patrols the Zoological Park to maintain and safeguard life and property against fire, vandalism and theft.
This position is scheduled to work on the overnight shift 11pm-7am
Principal Responsibilities
- Patrols the Zoological Park, maintaining peace, reprimands and ejects loiterers and disorderly persons.
- Calls for police when necessary and represents the Zoo when required pertaining to summonses issued, arrests made, or when court appearances are required.
- Records daily actions and makes reports as required.
- Monitors walkie-talkie / radio and responds to calls for service.
- Performs related tasks as required.
- Will work required shifts.
- May be required to operate a motor vehicle (Patrol etc.)
- Safeguard and maintain equipment (vehicle, radios, etc.)
Qualification Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License.
- Valid New York State Security Guard Registration Card.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays and required overtime
- The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Some tasks require climbing, kneeling, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and moderate lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Tasks require manual dexterity and ability to safely use tools (e.g. drill, wire cutters, computer keyboard) and operate equipment
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk distances
- Employee must be able to work Saturdays, Sundays and all Holidays.
- Employee must be able to work Overtime if required by supervisor.
