Summary
Zipline Guide Leads are responsible for motivating and monitoring the Zipline Guide team. They are experts when it comes to Zipline operations, and play a crucial role in ensuring everything runs smoothly for the day. They maintain and exceed the standards for guest interactions and service, setting the bar for their team. Guide Leads also act as a point of communication between all functional areas on site.
To excel as a Zipline Guide Lead, you need to be friendly, positive and energetic. Zipline Guide Leads need strong leadership qualities and should enjoy inspiring others. They apply their initiative to a number of tasks and must be able to assess when their team requires assistance.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinating and overseeing the Zipline Guide staff team to effectively operate the park on a daily basis
- Ensuring that all course opening inspections and daily gear inspections are completed
- Ensuring that all guests enjoy safe, positive, enriching experiences
- Ensuring safety rules are being followed by both guests and team members
- Making sure Guides know that support is available and present at all times during their day
- Ensuring the Guides have had sufficient breaks throughout the day
- Ensuring that Guides follow the Corrective Measures and Expulsion Protocol
- Understanding and awareness of the Zipline schedules, the reservation system and the WildPlay policies around refunds, pricing, group discounts etc.
- Performing regular guiding shifts
- Assisting in coaching and leading other staff members
- Assisting in conducting regular equipment inspections
- Work with the Element Supervisor, and/or Element Manager to learn various components of their role in the park
- Carrying out other work as directed by Park Management
- Participating as a positive and proactive member of the WildPlay team
Upon further certification as a member of the Rescue Team, all Lead Guides are responsible for:
- Performing rescue techniques to the level required in the case of an emergency
- Providing first aid and carrying out zip line retrieval techniques
Upon further certification as a member of the Tech Team, a select number of Lead Guides are responsible for:
- Carrying out maintenance tasks on the Zipline system as directed by Element Supervisor, Element Manager, or Operations Manager
- Conducting ongoing equipment inspections and bringing any issues to the attention of a member of the Tech Team, Element Supervisor or Element Manager
Required Qualifications and Skills

- Ability to consistently deliver high standards of work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, sun, rain, and temperature change
- Physical demands include continuously holding, carrying and lifting Zipline equipment, frequent walking/standing, and frequent bending/twisting/kneeling. *All lifts over 50 lbs. require assistance from a co-worker or the use of a mechanical device*
- Current Standard First-Aid and CPR-C Certification *Note: certification is not required in order to apply for this position, but if successful candidates must obtain it before first day of work*
Note: On-the-job training will be provided upon employment.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge and/or experience in outdoor recreation (either as a participant or through previous employment experience)
- Experience in a risk-management position
- Experience working in a fast paced, hospitality-based environment
Work Relationships
The Zipline Guide Lead reports directly to the Element Supervisor and is supervised at times by the Element Manager and Duty Manager.
Work Schedule
The Zipline Guide Lead works a flexible schedule of full-time and part-time work, based on the needs of the business. This includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
