As the Assistant Camp Director for Wildwood's summer camp season, you will work closely with the Camp Director to help manage day-to-day operations of the camp, support the camp staff, and ensure a safe and positive experience for campers. You will be responsible for assisting with program planning, staff training, camper supervision, and ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe, fun, and educational environment. This is a hands-on leadership position for individuals who are passionate about working with kids, leading a team, and ensuring a smooth-running camp experience.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Camp Director in overseeing all aspects of camp operations, including staff supervision, activity planning, and camper safety.
- Provide leadership and support to camp counselors, ensuring they are equipped and prepared to deliver high-quality programming.
- Lead and facilitate camper activities, such as nature walks, swimming, target sports, and more.
- Manage camper behavior and resolve conflicts in a professional and constructive manner.
- Assist with training and on-boarding new staff before the start of the camp season.
- Oversee camper health and safety, including ensuring first aid and emergency protocols are followed.
- Help with the preparation and organization of camp events, special activities, and end-of-season celebrations.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff to ensure all needs are addressed promptly.
- Help ensure the camp remains in compliance with American Camping Association requirements and maintain required documentation.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Previous experience in a camp leadership role (Assistant Director, Head Counselor, Program Leader, etc.) or related experience is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable with a passion for working with children and creating a positive camp environment.
- Experience with outdoor activities, recreation, and team-building exercises.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Training and/or experience in mental health, crisis response, and trauma-informed care are a plus as Wildwood serves a high percentage of low-income youth.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and a calm demeanor.
- Comfortable spending extended time outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
- Must be able to pass a background check.

Summer Work Schedule:
5 p.m. on Sunday through 5 p.m. on Friday each week from late May 2025 through early August 2025. The Assistant Camp Director is required to live on-site during summer camp sessions.
