Wildwood School is currently seeking a dynamic educator who is interested in and responsive to an evolving and innovative educational environment. Wildwood teachers are active participants in the life of the school and are encouraged to be lifelong learners in their craft.

 

Wildwood School seeks an experienced and innovative educator to join our middle school program as a Computer Science teacher. Our current opening is for a full-time teacher who will teach and design curriculum for sections that span 6th through 8th grade. This individual will help launch and sustain a pedagogically aligned computer science program at Wildwood and will collaborate with others to bridge the work in our elementary technology program and support the work of Wildwood’s Institutes.

 

The successful candidate will have teaching experience at the middle school level as well as experience working in collaborative teams. Specific course load may be flexible and may also change from year to year based on the department’s needs and teachers’ strengths and interests.

 

Core duties of Wildwood teachers include:

 

·         Collaborating with colleagues to design instructional materials, projects, and assessments

·         Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a range of learners

·         Assessing student mastery of course standards

·         Utilizing a variety of assessment methods to inform instruction

·         Providing comprehensive feedback in narrative form twice a year

·         Communicating proactively and consistently with students and families regarding student growth and development

 

Wildwood teachers are active participants in the life of the school beyond their classrooms. Additional responsibilities of Wildwood teachers include:

 

·         Serve as an advisor, executing Wildwood’s advisory curriculum with an emphasis on social-emotional learning, multicultural skills building, and academic oversight

·         Contribute to the work of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

·         Contribute to the work of school committees, task forces, the Admissions Office

·         Attend outdoor education trips and student events throughout the year

·         Provide supervision for lunch, recess, and passing periods

·         Continued involvement and investment in ongoing professional development

 

Ideal candidates have:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field

·         Training, demonstrated professional development, or certification in teaching and learning

·         Experience teaching and creating a curriculum that centers on computer literacy, digital design, programming, and ethical use of emerging technologies. 

·         A strong pulse on current trends, pedagogy, research, and topics of importance in computer science education and a willingness to apply it in the classroom

Salary : $69,000 - $130,000
