Job Title: Facilitator of Learning and Innovation

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Serve as campus information, learning, and technology integration facilitator and a master teacher role model to support improved student achievement; coordinate services provided by the campus Center for Learning and Innovation (CLI) as a center for pedagogical fusion where literacy, inquiry, thinking, imagination, discovery, and creativity are central to students’ learning and development; provide services and resources to prepare students to function effectively in an increasingly complex informational and technological world; and facilitate the integration of technology into the instructional program by supporting, training, coaching, and mentoring teachers and administrative staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate for levels assigned
  • Master’s Degree in library and information science from accredited college or university preferred
  • Valid Texas school librarian certificate or endorsement preferred
  • Learning Resources Endorsement

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional personal technology skills
  • Ability to bring digital tools into the classroom and fully integrate technology in daily instruction
  • Effective interpersonal skills and willingness to work collaboratively with staff

Experience:

  • Three years of classroom teaching experience
  • Experience teaching a variety of grade levels/subject areas preferred
  • Recent teaching experience within the district preferred
  • Experience as a teacher-leader or teacher-coach preferred
  • Experience in educational technology preferred
  • Knowledge of library science preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Center for Learning and Innovation Programs

  1. Effectively develop the CLI program and collection to meet identified student and staff needs to include books, eBooks, audio books, open source software, apps, streaming media, flash drives, digital video cameras, etc. Develop approaches to ensure diverse formats and platforms are equally and seamlessly accessible.
  2. Manage acquisitions, processing, organizing, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of resources, for both electronic and hands-on material.
  3. Create a CLI environment that is conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity level and interests of students, and supportive of teachers and parents.
  4. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. Coordinate and facilitate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.

Instructional Leadership

  1. Help develop a vision for technology integration at the campus and district levels.
  2. Identify instructional technology needs and provide for professional learning. This includes developing and providing training with teacher trainers, site preparation, training materials, and development of online professional development.
  3. Lead campus teams and digital initiatives for technology integration.
  4. Help advocate for parental involvement with digital wellness, awareness, and organization of students.
  5. Assist in piloting new technology with classroom teachers, including evaluation of the pilot itself.
  6. Assist in the design, development, and analysis of technology-based curriculum tools, specifically centered on mobile devices.
  7. Design, create and publish multimedia and online content including learning modules, tools, videos, print material and courses for a wide variety of audiences.
  8. Plan, design and model effective digital-age learning environments.
  9. Assist in the development and implementation of instructional technology integration models by working with classroom teachers and the Facilitation of Learning and Innovation team to establish exceptional instructional applications of technology.
  10. Create, implement, and support curriculum that utilizes mobile apps and mobile-friendly websites.
  11. Promote efficiency in hardware/software selection, with specific focus on mobile devices and apps.
  12. Organize and deploy apps on your primary campus in an efficient manner.
  13. Share best practices in the use of technology.
  14. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional development opportunities for personal growth, and keep abreast of current educational trends and research as related to practices in instructional technology.

Administration

  1. Compile cost estimates and administer budgets based on documented program needs and according to fiscal requirements.
  2. Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  3. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the CLI program and make changes based on the findings.
  4. Seek grant opportunities and work with the Facilitation of Learning and Innovation team to write grants.
  5. Support all campus and district initiatives.
  6. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and procedures, and state and local board policy.
  7. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policies.
  8. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  9. Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and campus goals.

Collaboration

  1. Collaborate with the Facilitation of Learning and Innovation team.
  2. Support teachers and campus administrators in all content areas, in the effective integration of technology in the classroom.
  3. Work with teachers in their classrooms to promote the use of technology to support and enhance the curriculum, to accelerate instruction, and utilize assessments to make data-informed decisions.
  4. Promote effective collaboration and communication among staff, students, parents, and the community using digital tools.
  5. Assist with the development of online learning environments for staff.
  6. Be available for just-in-time tutorials and training for students and staff.

Communication

  1. Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  2. Consult with campus administrators and district Learning & Innovation staff.
  3. Foster collegiality and a sense of team among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
  4. Use effective communication/presentation skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  5. Use strong consulting/collaboration skills to connect with other educators and professionals to improve collaboration both globally and within the district.
  6. Communicate and promote expectations of high performance to staff and students. Recognize excellence and achievement.
  7. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.

School and Community Relations

  1. Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  2. Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  3. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  4. Promote professional image in the community.
  5. Promote a positive and caring climate for learning.
  6. Assist with the development and promote parent meetings with the focus on digital citizenship and organizing the digital lifestyle of students.
