Wiley, a leading law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Accounts Payable Assistant to support our Accounting and Finance department. The Accounts Payable Assistant reviews all submissions within Chrome River, the firm’s automated software for expense reports and supplier invoices; processes paperwork concerning accounts payable; and assists as needed in the Accounting Department.
This position is eligible to participate in the firm's flexible work program.
Immediate availability is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Initial audit review of employee expense reports and vendor invoices within Chrome River
- Receives and codes “paper” invoices into Chrome River
- Uploads approved Chrome River expense reports and invoices into the firm’s financial management system
- Performs uploads of vendor invoices which contain multiple expense codes
- Responsible for two rush check runs per day, and other check runs as necessary
- Responsible for weekly check runs
- Processes and mails payments
- Balances monthly statements from vendors
- Answers questions and attempts to resolve issues/inquiries with vendors
- Processes and mails forms, such as W-9’s

- Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy
- Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Must establish and maintain effective working relationships in or out of a team environment
- Operates office equipment including personal computer, copiers, and 10-key calculator
- Proficient in the use of MS Word and Outlook software and have advanced knowledge in the use of Excel
- Understands and adopts the organizational structure
- Possesses the attitude of collaboration and sharing
- Willingness to learn and adopt new methodologies
- Flexibility to work overtime on an as needed basis
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma required; some college accounting/business courses helpful
- Minimum two (2) years of accounts payable experience in a law firm or professional environment
- Chrome River knowledge desired, but not required
- Experience with Rippe & Kingston financial accounting system desired, but not required
- Familiarity with Use Taxes and foreign exchange rates
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate
- Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
- Position requires that the employee be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position is primarily a sedentary position. However, some duties and responsibilities may require the employee to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, occasionally move about to access office equipment, file cabinets, etc.
- May require employee to carry or lift items weighing up to 10 pounds

The base salary for this position is $60,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
