Description
Wiley University is seeking qualified applicants for the Bus Driver position. This position is on an as-needed basis and the successful candidate will safely and efficiently transport Wiley College students, faculty, staff, and visitors to and from designated locations, ensuring adherence to all traffic laws and college regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate college buses and other vehicles as assigned, following prescribed routes and schedules.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus, enforcing college rules and regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, brakes, and other critical components. Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and passenger counts.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of passengers and other road users.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing assistance to those with special needs.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior and exterior.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and passengers.
- Respond to emergencies and accidents in a calm and professional manner, following established procedures.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and safety meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Experience operating passenger buses or similar vehicles
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws
- Ability to navigate routes and follow schedules
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain order and ensure passenger safety
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
