The Diagnostic Automotive Technician plays a crucial role in diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles efficiently, adhering to MAP guidelines and dealership, manufacturer's, and company repair standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose vehicles according to certifications and experience levels
- Perform complex and heavy-duty repairs with efficiency and accuracy
- Communicate technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals, including Store Managers, Service Consultants, and customers
- Recommend necessary services to maintain vehicles' running condition, documenting recommendations in customer files
- Follow safety procedures, reporting concerns to Shop Foremen or Store Managers
- Maintain ASE certifications and renewals of expiring certifications
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of automotive technician/mechanic experience
- Demonstrate ability to use computerized equipment for diagnostics
- Possess current, valid driver's license
- State Inspector License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to work Monday-Saturday
Working Conditions:
The Diagnostic Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous/non-hazardous materials. The work environment temperature varies, potentially including extreme heat and cold.
This role requires standing for five hours per day, walking to access various areas, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching regularly. The Diagnostic Automotive Technician must also be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and possess sufficient vision to detect color, depth, and re-focus.
