Job description
Since 1979, Wilkast has been a leader in providing precision and cosmetic aluminum and zinc die castings. We serve customers in the automotive, motorcycle, office furniture, appliance, and agriculture industries. In addition to our cast and trim operations, we have in-house capabilities for CNC machining, light assembly, and polishing/sanding of cast parts. We provide program management and various applied finish services, and ship products throughout North America and to Asia.
Job Description:
To operate die cast machine to produce quality castings as a member of the die
cast cell.
Job Duties:
- Review job materials located at work stations for job running
- Contact quality / supervisor for questions or concerns
- Remove castings from die & place on conveyor.
- Lubrication of die and cores as required
- Freeing die of any excess debris or flash
- Monitor press and make sure castings continue to be produced
- To visually inspect raw castings defects on an ongoing basis
- Assure production of quality parts
- Operate machine in a safe and responsible manner
- To never place hands or any part of the body in press while the safety mechanisms are not in place.
- Keep work area clean
- To be an active participant in all die cast cell activities.
- Perform, record safety checks on cast press machine.
- Notify supervisor of any problems or possible problems
- Assists in any other areas as requested by supervisor
- Fill out all pertinent forms as directed by their immediate supervisor
- Perform all job duties with Safety and Quality as primary focus (see employee handbook for more details).
- Must have a working knowledge of die cast and trim press set-up processes.
- Will have responsibility to keep their work area clean.
- Ability to recognize die-casting defects in critical areas of parts.
- Will strive to improve quality and continually increase production.
- Visually inspect parts and complete checks per the process book.
- Complete required production paperwork (uptime, production logs, scrap, etc.)
- Able to sort and rework trimmed die cast parts as needed.
- Must be mechanically inclined, ability to work with most hand tools and some power
tools.
- Active participant in all training, especially related to new technology or processes.
- Perform all job duties with safety and quality as primary focus (see employee PPE
“Personal Protection Equipment” Matrix). This matrix is posted in each plant.
- Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Education/Skills/Experience:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs from floor to waist
