Landscape Laborer

Honest, dependable laborers to join our vegetation management crew and support our tractor mowers. Crew members operate utility vehicles (side-by-sides), line trimmers, chainsaws, pole saws, backpack sprayers and other hand tools. You will also learn to operate mobile equipment, as needed, such as farm tractors and other motorized equipment. Work is performed outdoors in remote areas, including former phosphate mines and state forests.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE

• Manual Labor - Line trimming, weed eating, chainsaw, brush cutting, fence installation and repair; herbicide spraying; hazard observation and flagging; job site housekeeping; light mechanical and basic equipment maintenance.
• Operate Utility Vehicle (Side-By-Side) on dams, gyp stacks, ditches and waterways, rural roads and highways, flat woods and fields, clay ponds and wetlands
• Operate a line trimmer on dams, gypsum stacks, ramps, rural roads - weed eating around obstacles, including pipes, fences, utility poles, etc., Perform site inspections and flag hazards as well as identify gopher tortoise burrows.
• Operate a backpack sprayer or truck mounted sprayer Apply herbicide as required to manage invasive plants and grasses.
• Operate a 4x4 Pickup Truck w/Utility Trailer Load and unload utility vehicle on trailer; haul to designated job sites; includes backing trailer into shop yard and/or job sites.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance pre-checks and inspections on vehicle, equipment and job site.
• Practice workplace safety - Follows safety regulations per MSHA (OSHA); wear required Safety PPE including eye, ear and head protection; safety toed shoes, gloves and high visibility clothing.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required - No Exceptions - No Major Citations, 5 years; No DUIs, 7 years; No Suspensions, 3 Years
• Required Minimum 1 Year Experience - Verifiable
• TEAM PLAYER with a good attitude; strong, honest, work ethic; and a desire to learn new things.
• Able to read, write and speak English - Job requires daily reports
• Able to work full time, Monday thru Friday, 40 to 50 Hrs per week
• Able to work long hours outdoors - in wet, dusty conditions, in the rain and heat
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
