This is general security work in protecting college property and enforcing applicable college policies and regulations. Employees patrol the buildings and grounds of a community college campus on foot and in vehicles to protect and guard persons and property. Work involves completing daily work logs, writing reports, and using department computer, email or other electronic correspondence; regulating traffic and parking and includes issuing citations for violations of college parking and driving regulations; completing and submitting disciplinary referrals in response to student conduct code violations. Additional duties may include the performance of a variety of general services for other departments within the college or institution. Work is performed under close supervision and reviewed through daily conferences and written reports. Full Time or Part Time Part Time Essential Duties Summary
- Patrols the building and grounds of a college campus to detect fires, prowlers, vandals, or other unusual conditions.
- Conducts preliminary investigations of complaints and notifies proper authorities as directed.
- Enforces institutional regulations within jurisdictional boundaries.
- Issues citations for violations of the college traffic and parking rules.
- Testifies in court in criminal and civil cases.
- Provides parking and crowd control for special events on campus.
- Directs traffic in congested areas.
- Provides information and assistance for visitors.
- Assist stranded motorists with jumpstarts and lockouts.
- Maintains physical security of classrooms and instructional equipment by managing the classroom door schedules for locking and unlocking.
- Performs related duties as required. Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Possess a valid NC Driver license with no prior suspensions or revocations within the 3 year period immediately preceding the date of application.
- Possess a clean criminal history with no prior convictions for any felony or serious misdemeanor criminal offense. (Convictions for minor criminal offenses, including traffic infractions will be assessed on a case by case basis and do not automatically disqualify an applicant. The type and seriousness of the offense and date of occurrence may be considered, when determining suitability for employment in security positions.)
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Preferred Qualifications
