What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker III, 293-40-2115 position at Wilkes County Department of Social Services?
Responsible for providing Adult Protective Services, monitoring service provision for vulnerable, elderly and disabled adults at risk for abuse, neglect, or exploitation, whether they are living independently in the community or whether they are residing in an adult care home. This Social Worker serves as case manager and as the representative of the guardian for clients whom the Director of Wilkes DSS has been appointed guardian of the person. Performs payee functions for cases DSS has been appointed as payee. Responsible for providing Individual and Family Adjustment Services for adults. Performs Adult Homes Specialist duties as needed. Responsible for taking inquires from the community and for making appropriate referrals to other DSS units and to other service providers within the county and state. Will rotate on-call duties with other social work staff. Other related duties as required by Supervisor.
Master’s Degree from an accredited school of social work and one year social work or counseling experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a Master’s Degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling; or a four-year degree in a human-service-field-related curriculum’ or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human-service field, providing experience in the techniques of casework group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
