What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker Investigative/Assessment/Treatment position at Wilkes County Department of Social Services?
Primary focus of position is that of providing on-call for child protective services. Normal work schedule will be Monday through Friday. Hours of coverage are 3:30 PM to Midnight. Office hours will be flexible as needed and will allow for court presentations, case staffings, etc. Work involves investigation of alleged neglect, abuse, and dependency; assist in decisions regarding substantiation of the alleged neglect or abuse as prescribed by federal and state guidelines, providing expert testimony in court hearings, and following-up with case management, on a limited basis, and preventive services for clients. Position reports directly to CPS Team III Supervisor; however, will also report as required to other CPS Supervisors as needed for investigation decisions, court preparation, etc. Employees often under very stressful conditions. Social worker may provide group, family or individual treatment to clients of any age and regarding any developmental, mental, medical, substance abuse, financial or family problem. Emphasis of this position will be on the complexity of casework, treatment, and investigation.
Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one yearof social work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university for four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling; pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
