Wilkes University invites applicants for an Assistant Dean for Student Services for Online Programs in the College of Health and Education (CHE). The Assistant Dean for Student Services for Online Programs, works through the existing Passan School of Nursing (PSON) and School of Education (SOE) and appropriate committees and organizational structure, and with individual faculty, staff and other university departments. This position will also be involved with any future online programs within the CHE.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Chair PSON & SOE Graduate Student Affairs committees.
- Promotion of professional and behavioral standards of conduct as pertinent to student development.
- Collaborate with program Chairs and faculty for the development of CHE school-specific policies and initiatives impacting graduate students.
- Coordinate the development, distribution, collection, and collation, as appropriate, of student and alumni academic and survey data.
- Coordinate alumni services through the alumni association and OPM to obtain alumni data.
- Liaise with various support services, such as counseling, advising, and disability services, to ensure student needs are met.
- Act as a reliable resource for students seeking guidance and conflict mediation.
- Co-manage academic and disciplinary cases, facilitating fair resolutions.
- Address student challenges with empathy and provide guidance in alignment with university policies.
- Assist on-line undergraduate programs at the request of chair.
- Collaborate with faculty on updates of the student handbooks.
- Participation in all hooding and graduation exercises of the schools.
A master's degree is required. The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience (at least 3-5 years) in higher education administration with an established track record of serving in student affairs.
- Strong knowledge of higher education institution policies and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent administrative, analytical, communication, managerial, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, administration, external partners, and others as appropriate.
- Ability to think strategically and lead initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders to enhance the student experience.
- Proficiency in utilizing online systems for student affairs and information management.
- Experience in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Familiarity with Wilkes University's policies and procedures is an added advantage but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
