Wilkes University seeks passionate, student-centered professionals as applicants for a Graduate Admissions Counselor position in the Office of Graduate Admissions. Under the direction of the Director of Graduate Admissions, the Graduate Admissions Counselor provides counseling assistance to domestic and international students, families and outside community partners regarding graduate programs and the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. Performs detailed evaluations and functions related to the adhering to all admission requirements for admission to a program. Works closely with the Director of Graduate Admissions and Program Directors to identify new strategic initiatives and events to recruit students. The technical functions require accurate and timely tracking of all applicants from inquiry through enrollment. Creating an outstanding student experience is a priority in this role. The counselor acts as a champion for our students and ensures that their experience is friendly and helpful, delivering high-quality, speedy, personable and conversational support. Maintaining a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude is essential for success in this position.
A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education, customer service, student counseling, or a related area. Experience in higher education is preferred. Knowledge of the admissions application procedures is required. Sensitivity to the needs of all prospective students and the ability to communicate effectively with students, and other members of the campus community, is expected. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess: strong organizational skills; an eye for detail; the ability to relate well with students and family members to provide accurate, valid, and complete information and work in team and independent environments; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; strong computer skills in MS Excel and proficiency with technology; a willingness to assist current and prospective students with understanding the admissions criteria; and the ability to understand priorities and deliver projects on time.
