What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthcare Science Teacher position at Wilkinson County Middle School?
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other authorized administrators
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree or higher in a healthcare related field, or a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) determined equivalent with 2 years occupational experience
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Healthcare Science Technology Education (HSTE) or eligible for Professional Standards Commission (PSC) Healthcare Technical Specialist;
- Hold a current healthcare professional license, registration, or certification that relates to the healthcare field and has been issued by an appropriate governing or regulatory body
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; classroom and student management
JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Healthcare Science Education; assesses and encourages student progress; manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates/coordinates a rigorous Healthcare Science Technology Education curriculum with career-related instruction;
- Assesses and provides for differentiation to assure student progress while managing the learning environment.
- Complies with state and system level regulations and policies; including the rules of the Professional Standards Commission Code of Ethics for Educators. Integrates core content academics and embeds the Georgia Standard of Excellence (GSE) Literacy Anchor Standards for Technical Subjects within the program delivery of the GSE curriculum for Healthcare Science Technology Education career pathways courses.
- Models enthusiasm for Healthcare Science Technology Education and demonstrates current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economy.
- Coordinate and maintains lesson plans and prepare students for End of Pathway Assessments as deemed appropriate by Georgia Department of Education.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and students’ records
- Interact professionally with all students and parents.
- Work cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
- Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled.
- Is punctual
- Take as to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings, as applicable.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
