Position Summary:
The CDL Cement Equipment Operator 1 is responsible for operating and maintaining cementing equipment used in oilfield operations. This entry-level position involves working with a team to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of cementing services at well sites. The role requires physical stamina, technical skills, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Operates cementing equipment under the supervision of a senior operator or supervisor.
- Assists in rigging up and rigging down equipment at well sites.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure operational readiness.
- Mixes and prepares cement slurry according to job specifications and safety standards.
- Loads and unloads materials needed for cementing operations.
- Monitors cementing operations and reports any equipment malfunctions or deviations to supervisors.
- Follows all safety regulations and procedures to minimize risks in the field.
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, equipment, and tools.
- Completes required paperwork and logs related to the job, such as job tickets, maintenance records, and safety reports.
- Participates in ongoing training and development to improve technical skills and job performance.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid CDL (REQUIRED) and ability to travel to remote job sites.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to operate heavy machinery.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Willingness to work extended hours in various weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and following operational procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
