Position Summary: The Control Room Operator will operate heaters, mixers, coolers, screening equipment, forklift, and related equipment. This role will also perform related maintenance tasks as required. Conducts all work in accordance with the CARBO Mission Statement and Core Values.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Control spray fluidizer within proper parameters to provide uniform quality, size, and rate feeding the kiln feed surge bins. This includes particle size adjustment, nozzle/orifice configurations, temperature control, and equipment operation awareness.
- Control batch parameters through proper manipulation of controllers within the Blendtrol system. Respond to various process concerns as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date production records for the batching and fluidization systems. Log and figure rates of all scrap streams and return to process materials. Maintain up-to-date production/Q.C. data log.
- Sample test and analyze seeds and fluidizer product.
- Clean slurry filters, nozzles, fluidizer walls, etc., to maintain product quality, production rate, and generally clean work areas.
- Maintain product quality and production rate.
- Insure raw material supply to the batch through inventory awareness and PVA preparation guidelines for the Floor Utility person.
- Plant clean-up, shipping of product, etc.… as necessary when time permits.
- Perform other related duties and/or special projects as required.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights & weekends if the need arises.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience with general labor work is required.
- Previous production operator experience and ability to analyze data for cause and effect.
- Recent or previous experience warehousing and/or QC lab experience
- Ability to read and write; ability to comprehend oral and written instructions.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
