Position Summary:
The Wireline Engineer is responsible for overseeing and executing wireline operations to provide essential services to the oil and gas industry. This role involves planning, preparing, and conducting wireline operations to deliver accurate data and ensure the integrity of wells during various stages of drilling, completion, and production. The Wireline Engineer works closely with field teams to achieve operational objectives and maintain high safety and quality standards.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Plans, coordinates, and executes wireline operations in accordance with job requirements, including logging, perforation, and well integrity testing.
- Operates and maintains wireline tools, surface equipment, and pressure control equipment.
- Analyzes well conditions and interprets data to make real-time decisions during wireline operations.
- Provides technical guidance to field teams and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Collects, records, and interprets data from wireline logging tools to provide insights into well conditions.
- Prepares detailed reports and presentations based on wireline data for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Utilizes specialized software to analyze wireline data and generate actionable recommendations.
- Ensures all wireline operations are conducted safely, following company policies and industry regulations.
- Performs risk assessments and implements mitigation strategies to minimize operational hazards.
- Maintains compliance with environmental and safety standards during all phases of wireline operations.
- Oversees the maintenance, calibration, and testing of wireline tools and equipment.
- Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with wireline equipment in the field.
- Maintains accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and certifications.
- Collaborates with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical support during operations.
- Communicates effectively with clients regarding job progress, data interpretation, and post-job reports.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Leads and mentors junior wireline engineers and field personnel.
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure seamless integration of wireline operations with broader project goals.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in wireline operations within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of wireline tools, logging techniques, and wellbore conditions.
- Proficiency in wireline software and data interpretation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
- Willingness to travel and work in remote locations, as required.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
