Heavy Equipment Operator
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment, mainly bulldozers and excavators, used in construction, maintenance, and excavation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in excavation and site construction.
- Follows company safety procedures, reporting any issues to the foreman, superintendent, safety director, or HR manager.
- Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, referring defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
- Knowledge of moisture conditions, cut grade, and ability to load trucks is required.
- Knowledge of cutting and filling grade is also necessary.
- Prior experience with GPS is preferred.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of recent experience in construction as a heavy equipment operator is required.
- Must have extensive experience as a bulldozer and excavator operator.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines is crucial.
- Excellent customer service skills are required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.

Working Conditions:
- This position requires standing, walking, kneeling, sitting, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, and exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights.
- Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment may be required.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and gases, as well as varying climates, including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Ability to wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats, when necessary.
- Work under stressful conditions at times and react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Ability to move and lift up to 40-pound wooden skids or pallets.
- Travel throughout the facility as required for safety inspections.
- Comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
