What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Caretaker (Part-Time) position at Will County Animal Control?
Duties: Under general supervision of the Administrator and Operations Manager, performs technical and routine care for the animals in the shelter environment. Primary focus is on enhancing the life of our shelter animals by providing comfort and care to the animals, maintaining a clean and enriching environment for the animals, and performing adoptions of available animals. Work includes cleaning animal spaces according to shelter standards, giving vaccinations and medications, microchipping, providing animals with daily enrichment, adoption counseling, and assisting with owner reclaims and transfers. Provides prompt, compassionate, and courteous service to customers.
Requirements: Associate’s Degree in animal sciences, veterinary technology, zoology or related field, orequivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Minimum 6 months experience working with animals in an animal shelter, kennel, or veterinary environment required. Experience in an animal welfare environment preferred. Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License required, and minimum automobile insurance as required by law.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.97 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
