What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Management Planning Specialist position at Will County Executive Office?
The Emergency Management Planning Specialist for Technological Hazards is responsible for managing and coordinating planning efforts related to technological hazards within the jurisdiction. The primary focus is on handling Tier II reports, spill reports, and critical infrastructure planning. This position also coordinates the functions and programs of the Will County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), ensuring that the committee fulfills its statutory responsibilities related to hazardous materials. The Specialist will collaborate with public and private sector partners, facilitate hazard exercises, and ensure that emergency plans and reports are up-to-date and compliant with local, state, and federal guidelines. Additionally, the Specialist will act as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer for the agency and participate in the on-call duty officer rotation.
Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Environmental Science, Public Safety, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. At least 3 years of experience in emergency management, environmental safety, hazardous materials, or a related field with a focus on technological hazards. ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, HSEEP, and HazMat Awareness certifications. Willingness to serve in an on-call capacity as part of a rotating duty officer schedule.
