Job Description:
Individual will be responsible for teaching the Macomb Intermediate School District- designed Readers and Writers camp for students entering grades 5, 6, 7 or 8. The goals of the camp are:
- Support students reading for pleasure and writing to express ideas
- Encourage students think of themselves as readers and writers
- Teachers get a chance to focus on the joy of getting students interested in books, and talking to peers about what they are reading and writing
- Teachers get time to talk to students about books
- Teachers get a chance to learn about some really fun Middle Grades novels
- Students get to share their work with an audience beyond the classroom

Teacher Hours:?
- 8:00am-11:20am (including breakfast and lunch supervision)
- 40 minutes of daily paid prep time
- Total hours per day: 4
Teacher Days:?
- Student Program Dates: June 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27
- Pre-Program set-up: June 12; 9:00am-12:00pm (3 hours)
- MISD In-Person Training (compensation provided by MISD);?select one date: June 9, 1:00pm-3:00pm OR June 9, 4:30pm-6:30pm, OR June 10, 9:00am-11:00am
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Exemplary experience in teaching middle school ELA
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and engage students
- Must be available during the time requirements of the position
- Certification in CPR and first aid?required

Responsibilities:
- Providing a sample camp flyer/registration form for districts to send home with students
- Providing teachers with instructional materials, including daily lesson plans
- Providing districts with student materials
- Providing pre and post assessments
- Supervise students during breakfast and lunch
