Position Summary
The Senior Payroll Administrator is part of the Payroll Team processing multi-state bi-monthly payroll. They will ensure accurate and timely processing of employee wages, benefits, and deductions, while also ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. They will handle payroll-related inquiries, resolve any issues or discrepancies, and maintain payroll records. Additionally, the Senior Payroll Administrator may assist with provide guidance and support to junior payroll staff. They will also collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and knowledge of payroll software and systems are essential for this role. This is primarily an On-Site position (three days in office - two days remote).
Essential Position Functions
- Perform payroll processes such as preparing, input and processing to ensure accurate and timely multi state payroll processing for bi-monthly pay cycles and off-cycle pay requests using UKG Pro Payroll and Dimensions timekeeping system.
- Troubleshoot timesheet problems and correct them for payroll processing.
- Precise data entry of employee status changes, new hire and termination paperwork, and maintenance of personnel records.
- Review and maintain PTO balances and coordinate any necessary changes.
- Resolve questions and issues from managers, employees, and external parties in a polite and helpful manner.
- Identify and handle employee overpayment discrepancies, handle overpayments and document.
- Assist with payroll tasks such as quarterly taxes, balancing year-end W-2's and other regulatory agency payroll matter notices.
- Perform a range of accounting level support for the accounting department.
- Assist with identifying tax filing discrepancies to ensure accurate filing by UKG tax services.
- Assist with previous quarters filed incorrectly, document amended returns to ensure accurate filings prior to UKG tax services.
- Support and provide coverage of other payroll staff as needed.
- Audit and reconcile a wide range of personnel actions and payroll documents.
- Ad hoc reporting, analysis and Payroll projects as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage laws. Ensure compliance with all state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with company policies, with respect to employee and other financial information.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required in finance, accounting or business-related field and at least 3 to 7 years of in-house payroll administration is required OR equivalent combination of education and experience which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
