Summary:
Senior Automation Product Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of automation projects to improve customers’ operations taking into consideration their need to increase throughput, reduce operating costs, improve work conditions, and product quality. The anticipated effects of the individual’s efforts is to secure new and repeat business opportunities for PRE-TEC. Will lead project teams consisting of design, electrical and mechanical members
Primary Duties:
• Responsible for project concepts, system designs, model creation, and cost sheets
• Preparation of CAD designs and complete detailing of layout drawings for the production of the equipment
• Evaluate and define project scope. Assure complete coordination of working drawings for use by machining, fabrication, assembly as well as outside vendors
• Schedule and direct project meetings from Kick-off to Factory Acceptance Testing
• Analyze work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements
• Consult with vendors to determine product specifications, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards
• Collaborate with Division management, sales, engineering, operations and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate the production processes
Non-Essential Duties:
• Perform miscellaneous duties as requested by supervisor
Experience:
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the design and development of automated manufacturing solutions, equipment & processes
• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design of complex tooling and fixturing
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in production line manufacturing, and process refinement
• Strong manufacturing process knowledge; preferably in low volume, high mix production model
• Hands on experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting of automated manufacturing environment
• Examples of developing and presenting high level business plans to senior leadership teams
• SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience
