Description:
Serves as Hospital Acute Care receptionist. Responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties, answering the telephone and preparing and compiling records for the nursing unit. Manages IP visitors, facilitating communication and contribution to a smooth functioning well equipped team. Monitors telemetry, runs strips as appropriate and reports changes to appropriate RN. Functions as a CNA when assistance is needed.
Responsibilities:
- Works cooperatively within own department and with other employees in other departments.
- Willingly assumes additional responsibility to support the team efforts of own and other departments.
- Consistently uses good written and verbal communication.
- Show the appropriate care, courtesy and respect to all guests, patients, physicians and other employees that they deserve.
- Obtains and copies all records needed by the physician or nurse.
- Upholds the highest confidentiality that the hospital requires.
- Directs visitors and guests to rooms.
- Maintains a positive attitude under the most trying of circumstances.
- Demonstrates flexible attitude to changes that take place in the department.
- Follows all direction concerning changes and acts accordingly.
- Maintains a well organized and clean environment to work at maximum efficiency and promoting good quality standards.
- Ability to use own initiative to figure out problems.
- Trains and orients new staff to the HUC position and it's responsibilities.
- Answers telephone and relays messages to patients and staff courteously and tactfully.
- Requisitions supplies designated by nursing staff.
- Answers patient call lights and directs appropriate staff to respond to patient’s requests.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Must have current CPR certification
- Clerical experience or previous experience as a unit coordinator preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and accurately in the English language, both orally and in writing. Medical Background Required Ability to follow directions and work well with others.
- Current active licensure in the State of Washington as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
