Essential Functions:
- Lead a team of fitters, fabricators, and welders in the construction of aluminum boats and small components.
- Responsible for approving employee timecards and other first line supervisor duties.
- Responsible for developing a production schedule for the aluminum fabrication team.
- Measure and cut aluminum sheets or extrusions to specified dimensions.
- Ensure accurate measurements and adherence to project specifications.
- Use welding techniques to join aluminum components, ensuring strong and durable connections.
- Employ various welding methods such as MIG/Pulse MIG (Metal Inert Gas) or TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas).
- Maintain AWS welding certification program and procedures.
- Follow engineering drawings and specifications during the manufacturing process and generate redlines to track product changes.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Manage shop supplies, equipment, and PPE.
- Move and handle aluminum materials with care to avoid damage and maintain material integrity.
- Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and designers, to understand project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure uninterrupted and efficient workflow.
- Ensure quality of work being performed by the manufacturing team through initial visual inspections and detailed inspections at critical points.
- Perform routine maintenance on fabrication equipment to ensure proper function.
- Safely operate overhead gantry cranes, vacuum lifters, forklifts, router tables, power tools, chop saws, band saws, tube benders, die grinders, sheers, press brakes, and other typical fabrication equipment.
- Stay informed about advancements in aluminum fabrication techniques and technologies.
