PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Operations Financial Controller will report directly to the CFO and CEO of Willard Marine. This role demands an individual who is proficient in SAGE 100, with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and standard operational accounting processes, from general ledger management to US GAAP financial reporting. The ideal candidate will work on site, providing financial oversight of the business. This includes but is not limited to accounting management, creating robust business processes to standardize the accounting process, and working closely with the operations team. This role is perfect for a motivated, detail-oriented professional in the early stages of their career, looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Additional requirements include:
- Manage Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to the CFO and CEO, ensuring all financial data is timely and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Oversee Accounting Operations: Supervise daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain SAGE 100 Systems: Utilize and optimize SAGE accounting software for financial management and reporting, ensuring the system meets the company's evolving needs and staff are trained effectively.
- Support Financial Planning: Assist in developing financial strategies and business plans, providing critical insights and analysis to support decision-making processes and drive organizational growth.
- Ensure Compliance and Best Practices: Maintain a robust internal control environment, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards, and continuously improving financial policies and procedures.
- Monthly GL Reconciliations: Implementing a monthly close process and maintaining a system of reconciliations to the general ledger for financial statement line items, including but not limited to: cash, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of experience with public accounting and/or relevant industry
- CPA preferred but not required.
