Description

Summary :

The Forklift Operator is responsible for using a forklift, or other power equipment to load, unload, move, stack, stage and count product and materials. Uses radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving and put away, as required. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform other production work duties.

Specific Responsibilities :

Pull and prepare product for shipment as scheduled
Maintain the facility's equipment and materials and a clean, neat, and orderly work area
Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods
Comply with all safety rules and standards
Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards
Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas
Efficiently move product as required
On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the

forklift or other equipment

Use radio frequency equipment as required

Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage

Report quality variances

Ensure proper stock rotation

Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained

Assist in physical inventories / receiving

Ensure all bundles are tagged

WORK SITUATIONS :

Dealing with people - work situations that involve interpersonal relationships in a job setting beyond giving and receiving work instructions.

Speaking / signaling - talking with or signaling people to convey or exchange information.

Driving / operating - starting, stopping and controlling the actions of machines or equipment for which a course must be steered, or which must be guided, to control the movement of things or people.

STRENGTH RATING :

Very Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force frequently (1 / 3 to 2 / 3 of the time) and / or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly (2 / 3 or more of the time) to move objects.

DEMANDS :

Each of these physical activities is essential to the job occasionally to frequently : Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping / bending, reaching, handling and feeling.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :

Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.

NOISE INTENSITY LEVEL :

Moderate

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Good communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to speak read and write Basic English.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Must be a self-motivated, dependable, team oriented person with a positive Can Do attitude who can be effective under pressure.

Ability to work as a team with other personnel assigned to the job

6 months consecutive experience in production is ideal, but not required

Willingness to work overtime.

Participate in insuring a safe work environment through promoting all company safety policies.

Ability to be patient, calm and helpful with internal and external customers to resolve issues in a constructive manner.

6 months Forklift Driver experience preferred, but not required

High School Diploma / GED is preferred, but not required

Ability to comprehend and implement oral instructions quickly.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations and to comprehend measurements

Good eyesight or wear corrective lenses as seeing is essential to the job. Applicant must be able to have clear vision at 20 feet or more and have good depth perception to judge distance and space relationships.

Ability to read a tape measure.
